Senior AI-Native Full-Stack Engineer (Backend + Frontend)
About the role
Senior AI-Native Full-Stack Engineer (Backend + Frontend) — Contract
Talent.com is building the workforce-intelligence layer for high-volume hiring through Talia—and we’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to own the product surface end-to-end. This is a rare seat where you’ll ship the FastAPI backend that powers agentic workflows and the production frontend we haven’t built yet—with real users, real HR workflows, and a team that moves like a startup inside a larger platform.
You’ll recommend and stand up the frontend stack, then build the experiences HR teams, hiring managers, and new hires actually touch—turning LLM/agent decisions into UI that people can trust and act on.
The Work
- Own the product surface end-to-end: build and evolve the FastAPI routers/services on the backend and the customer-facing UI on the frontend.
- Make the greenfield frontend architecture call: choose the framework and patterns (and defend them), establish the foundation the team will build on, and set frontend standards from day one.
- Keep the codebase agent-legible: help shape operating rules, architecture boundaries, and eval suites so the repo stays productive for both agents and humans.
- Ship agentic, AI-native features end-to-end: surface model-generated decisions, rationale, and outcomes in interfaces that HR and compliance teams can understand.
- Build hiring dashboards and workflows on top of Talia’s data: hire pipelines, manager checklists, mentor assignments, attrition signals, and cost/impact views.
- Write production Python and orchestrate workflows: async Python with SQLAlchemy 2.0 / asyncpg / Postgres, Pydantic schemas, and Temporal-orchestrated workflows behind the product experience.
- Translate customer signal into product quickly: sit in customer calls and turn feedback into shipped improvements in the same week.
What You’ll Need
- You’ve shipped full-stack production features—from database work through to the UI—where you owned the end-to-end outcome.
- Strong backend Python with async web services and real database/ORM work (FastAPI is a plus, but the capability matters most).
- Strong modern frontend engineering with a current component framework (React/Next.js/Svelte/Vue or similar), solid state management, and an eye for UX + accessibility.
- Experience shipping on top of LLMs or agentic systems in production—handling latency/uncertainty and designing for when the AI is wrong.
- High craft and clean boundaries: you care about typing, tests, and architecture seams even when moving fast.
Even Better If
- Experience with Temporal (or comparable workflow orchestration).
- Built evals or AI-transparency interfaces that customers actually trust.
- Direct production experience with major model providers (Anthropic/OpenAI/etc.), including streaming and agentic UX.
Who Thrives Here
- You enjoy being the person who makes the call—especially when the “right way” isn’t written down yet—and you follow through by shipping.
- You’re comfortable translating between technical depth and non-technical needs, so HR and compliance can understand what the system is doing and why.
- You work in a way that keeps quality durable: strong boundaries, tests, and clarity that help both humans and coding agents move faster.
- You like building with feedback loops—customer calls, quick iteration, and turning signal into product without waiting for a perfect plan.
The Team
You’ll join Talia, a small, focused team operating with the speed and autonomy of a startup inside Talent.com. You’ll work directly with the Engineering Lead as your daily collaborator, alongside Product and design-partner customers across industries like healthcare, retail, residential manufacturing, BPO/contact center, and education. The repo is structured for agentic development with CI-enforced architecture boundaries and eval suites that gate merges—so your decisions become the team’s operating system.
