As a Platform Software and Validation Engineer at Proxelera, you'll be at the forefront of developing the software that makes our cutting-edge AI chips and networking silicon usable. This role is crucial as we continuously grow and respond to the increasing demands of our partners. You'll tackle complex challenges in BIOS, UEFI, firmware, Linux kernel, and drivers, all while working directly with real hardware.

The Work

• You'll own the development and validation of BIOS, UEFI, and firmware, ensuring our chips perform optimally in real-world scenarios.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to debug and validate software on actual hardware, navigating limited visibility during troubleshooting.
• Drive the development of test automation and tooling that enhances our debugging processes, making future failures easier to diagnose.
• Engage in post-silicon validation and bring-up, directly impacting the performance and reliability of our products.
• You'll need to make critical decisions about whether failures belong to your layer, requiring a deep understanding of the stack.

What You'll Need

• You've demonstrated expertise in C and data structures, particularly in systems that run on real hardware.
• Experience debugging on hardware with limited visibility, utilizing tools like JTAG, trace, and crash dumps.
• A solid understanding of one layer of software, whether it's firmware, kernel and drivers, or platform validation.
• Proficiency in Python or shell scripting for automation, with a focus on making failures reproducible.

Even Better If

• You've contributed to upstream projects or have a public patch trail, particularly in areas like BIOS, UEFI, or graphics drivers.
• Familiarity with protocols and interfaces such as I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB.
• Experience in customer-facing debugging, having been the point of contact during critical failures.
